Poet and performance artist Anthony Howell is committed to finding ways to refresh visual performance and dance. In Tango Schumann, all reference to Latin American origins is stripped from the dance by interpreting works by Robert Schumann and other classical composers. For one night only, Howell and his dance partner Lindi Köpke stage Tango Schumann in the Upper Galleries at Modern Art Oxford. The performance will be preceded by two short films, which will contextualise and address some of the prominent concerns of Howell’s practice.
